So I was just watching a couple vids of the Cruel Izaro fight to prepare for it:
This vid at :56 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE-JfottI5I shows his melee attack penetrating ES.
-just a heads up for anyone thinking of running him in Merc with -60 chaos res. (slow the vid down to .25 and youll see the player's ES was never completely gone while taking damage to his HP pool.)

The shield was fully gone, the high regen(recharge? occultist ftw) just made it look like it wasnt empty. Watch at 0.25 speed, u can get a frame with ES low as 11 which is low enough.
(es recharge could be high as 1000 per second, it would be possible that there is no frame where it exactly shows 0 bcasue the numbers update so fast)

One of the occulist passives is energy shield doesnt stop recharging for 4 seconds after it starts. He got hit, it depleted, but kept recharging after.

yeah i saw it get very low. you make a very good point but im still not 100% convinced.
(you very well could be right though. would be nice to hear opinions from other's who've fought him while on a hybrid build.)

Lots of my guildmates complain that one of phase 3 izaro attack one shot them yet it never happened to me and one of the thing different from them with my characters is that they all have positive chaos res.
I wouldn't be surprise if Izaro was doing some chaos damages, that would be even more funnier thinking that people greatly abused poison in the last league. Now you are on the other side :D

I wouldn't be surprise if Izaro was doing some chaos damages, that would be even more funnier thinking that people greatly abused poison in the last league. Now you are on the other side :D

i think if he has charges even without chaos damage he can burst pseudo-one-shot if both his 'windslash' and sunder connect at the same time. im having a hard time getting chaos res this time on my hc perandus character...in maps with -60% (usually have 0% by now) so im a bit sketched about the whole thing.
